In the beginning....

Hello Family and Friends,

Several years ago my mom expressed interest in a trip to the Holy Land, and I offered to be her travel companion.  We decided about two years ago that 2013 would be the year.  Last fall I naively asked Meghan if she would like to join us, and she immediately thought it would be a great way to get a passport and two weeks off school.   We feel blessed to have this opportunity to travel to the cradle of Christianity and civilization.

Let me introduce the travelers:

Carol (aka Mom and Grandma):  College graduate, married for 48 years to Alex, mother of 4, grandmother of 10, master gardener (my designation not hers!), avid genealogist and traveler, and a lifelong learner.

Karen (aka Mom):  College graduate, married to Steve for 18 years, mother of 3, scientist and technical project manager, and co-chair of the household.

Meghan:  Daughter of Karen and Steve, sister of Matt and Aidan.  8th grade student, pianist, blogger, and very goal oriented....we cannot wait to see what path her life will take!  She will also serve as the technology director for the trip in general and the blog.

We are going to keep a blog journal of our trip, and we will have rotating authors so you can get perspectives from each generation experiencing this trip.    If we (ie Meghan) are good at the technology part of this, we will also provide photos during the trip on the blog.

It would be remiss to not mention those holding down the forts back home - Alex (aka Dad and Grandpa) in Wisconsin, and the Indiana gang - Steve (aka Dad), Matt  and Aidan.

We look forward to documenting and sharing our trip.

Karen
